NABI Chasing the Sun 10K & Health Fair

NABI “Chasing the Sun 5K 10K & Health Fair”
To continue with the success of the NABI programs, the “Chasing the Sun 5K 10K & Health Fair”, in partnership with Ak-Chin Indian Community, was created in 2009 to promote health and fitness to our Native American communities. To entertain our runners the race features Native American music and dancers along the route.  In its first year, the race drew Nike N7 & Merck as sponsors and continues to grow every year, and is predicted to become one of the top 10K races in the United States.
The Health Fair is comprised of health related organizations that educate all attendees on health issues affecting our youth and communities.
This Native American themed health event is open to the general public and continues to build a stronger bridge between Native Americans and non-Natives.

Program Objectives

  • Host a Native American themed event the promotes exercise, health and wellness
    • Implement a race that promotes the importance of exercise
    • Feature health organizations that educate the community on prevention and resources available
  • Host an event that strengthens the bridge between Native and non-Native communities

Utilize this event as a fundraiser for NABI Youth programs and to promote the mission of the NABI Foundation.

2012 Chasing the Sun 10K is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2012. Registration and Information will be posted Jan. 1, 2012.
